Hotel lobby
We arrived to the hotel huge and luxurious lobby in the morning at around 7.30am, and were welcomed with fresh fruit juice. Arabic coffee with dates were by side, if you wish so. The check-in process was smooth and quick. Despite early arrival to the hotel, we were escorted to our room by a guest relations clerk who showed us everything around our spacious and luxurious room.
The hotel lobby is huge and designed to the detail in opulent Arabic décor. There is a grand clock located in the middle of the lobby designed and built by the Smiths of Derby maker. The masterpiece clock is designed also to show the five daily prayer times to honor Arabic culture.
There is a reception, concierge, guest relations desk, luggage porter service and money exchange there. All major credit cards are, of course, accepted. The lobby has an access to the shopping arcade with luxurious boutiques and travel services. A lobby bar with live music performed by a piano or guitar player is a good place where to spend a time.
Location
Waldorf Astoria hotel is about an hour drive from Dubai international airport, and 10 minutes by car to Ras Al Khaimah city center, as the property location is in Al Hamra area where another 5star hotels are located.
Al Hamra has a 18 hole golf course and nearby shopping mall with many shops, restaurants and a cinema. The hotel is located at the beach which is a huge white sands beach.
Room
The resort has almost 350 spacious rooms and suites. Our Family Deluxe Room with a Balcony had about 90 sqm, and facing the sea. The room has two sections, living and sleeping one. Living part of the room has a huge sofa and chairs, coffee table, large flat TV, Nespresso coffee machine, kettle and minibar. The sleeping part is equipped with large comfortable beds, large flat TV, docking station, dvd and media player.
Another part of the room is an area with the wardrobes with safe deposit, hairdryer, bathrobes and beauty table with chair. There is comfortable thick carpet on the floor. Room is decorated in white, light beige and golden colors. Marble bathroom has a huge mirror, two wash basins, bath tub and shower corner as well as separated toilet with bidet.
WIFI connectivity is fast and stable, including the area of the beach.
Restaurants and food
There is 6 restaurants and 4 lounges at the hotel. The Qasr Al Baharrestaurant serves breakfast with simply everything your heart can long for, from fresh juices, detox options to special dietary requirements meals. Lunch and dinner offer international menus.Lexington Grillfocuses for steak and seafood, and features an oyster bar and wine cellar. UMIrestaurant offers Japanese delicacies. Arabic sheesha can be enjoyed at Camelia lounge.Azureby the pool serves Mediterranean and Italian meals, drinks and cocktails. 17squarelounge has a large choice of champagnes and cocktails. The other places to have a tasty meals and drinks are Le Diwan, Marjan, Al Fayrous and Peacock Alley. Food is tasty, and served either as buffet-style or a la carte.
Leisure facilities
The property has two swimming pools, one main pool and one for adults only. Situated on the beach, there are activities organized by the hotel as scuba diving, banana rides, wakeboarding, parasailing etc. The others can enjoy 18 hole golf course or horse riding.
There is also a good spa and well equipped gym.
Laundry service is reliable.
